The 2010-2011 cultural arts program kicks off with Seth Reichgott’s Chariot of the Sun performance at South Mountain. Using a combination of poetry, masks, mime, and skillful audience participation, this program introduces our 3rd through 5th graders to the heroes, gods and monsters of Greek mythology– providing an ideal tie-in to our 4th grade enrichment program which is exploring mythology.  In what we hope will be the beginning of a long collaborative process, the entire 4th grade from Jefferson Elementary School, who are also participating in the enrichment program, will join South Mountain students for the performance.

As this program was tailored to our upper grades, next up will be a science based program focused on our younger students.  This program, which will be held at the Annex, will be announced shortly.
