Returning to School Following an Injury
Orthopedic Injuries:
Students who have experienced orthopedic injuries may return to school after following the steps below:
1. The student should return to school with a note from the treating physician which details any limitations on activities as well as the need for orthopedic appliances. *( Casts, splints, crutches, canes will be permitted in the school building if specified in the doctor’s admittance note to the school nurse.)
2. Students on crutches need a note from the treating M.D., stating that the student is proficient in crutch walking and stair climbing and that the student may be in school on crutches.
3. For the student’s safety it is recommended that the student be brought to school either a little early or a little late and also picked up a little early in the afternoon.
Please speak to your school nurse to finalize these arrangements.
