School Spirit Day Activities

School Spirit Day brings many GREAT memories each year for our South Mountain Superstars. We invite you to check out some of the many different activities that our students participate in during this wonderful day of enthusiasm and spirit. Please feel free to use any of our Spirit Day Activities at your next school event or family picnic. Have FUN and show your SPIRIT!

PARACHUTE ACTIVITIES
POPCORN- (Grades K-2) Children surround parachute which has multiple, color fleece balls in the center. The object of this activity is for students to flip the fleece balls off the parachute by making waves in the parachute with their arms. If all fleece balls are successfully popped off, the parachute the game is over and can be attempted again. Try this activity several times. Have fun popping!
EQUIPMENT: 1 24′ Parachute, Colored Fleece Balls

FLY THE COOP- (Grades K-2) Similar rules to the above “Popcorn” activity. Children surround the parachute which will have five rubber chickens in the center. The object of this activity is for students to flip the chickens off the parachute by making LARGE waves in the parachute with their arms. Chickens weigh more than the fleece balls which means the larger the waving motion the higher the chickens fly. If all the chickens are successfully flipped off the parachute the game is won because the chickens “flew the coop”. This activity never gets old with the “little ones” and can be done numerous times.
EQUIPMENT: 1 Large Parachute, 5 Rubber Chickens

Students return to the line and give the monkey to the next person waiting who will place the monkey on their back and start running. Repeat this process until everyone has had a chance to go.
